Get that food out of my sight! If I ever see a piece of chocolate again, I will literally scream and run in the opposite direction. Christmas was fun, enjoyable but I feel like I have gained about 500 pounds in the last few days. As much as I love the holiday period, I'm glad it's over for another year just so I can finally go back to having a normal routine again. I've missed that these past few days weeks.
I know I'll probably sound like a broken record but it's been a tough few months for me regarding motivation. I'm finding it really hard to motivate myself to get back into the shape I was in pre-Mexico. I know I've struggled with motivation for at least a good year now but my holiday to Mexico was the only thing that really kept me going. Now that's gone, I'm finding it even harder to motivate myself. What's worse, a few weeks ago my gym closed down, so now I am having to find new ways to get fit. Argh! I'm just going to have to dig in deep, keep doing what I can and push myself until I break through this brick wall I seem to be facing all too often. I know I can do it. I've done it before. It's just very frustrating.
I'm hoping 2013 will be a fresh chance for me to set some new goals as well as to finally complete the 15 million step challenge, which I set nearly 2 years ago. Over the next few days, I'm going to sit down and have a good long think about what goals I will set myself. If you have any suggestions or challenges, please let me know!
15 Million Steps Challenge Update
Since I last posted an update mid-October, I have taken 794,632 more steps, which means my current steps total is: 11,428,273.
I can't believe I've taken over 11 million steps. I can't believe I'm still doing this challenge!! Any sane person would have given up a long, long time ago. I'd like to say I'm nearing the finishing line but there are still over 3.5 million steps to go! Based on an average of 10,000 steps a day, it means I should be completed in just under a year. Well forget that, I'm not waiting a year. I'm too impatient! I'm going to continue to kick ass with my steps on a daily basis and one of my 2013 goals will be to set myself a much earlier date to finally complete my steps challenge once and for all.
11,428,273 steps taken, 3,571,727 steps to go!
How about you...
Did you have a good Christmas? What goals are you setting yourself for 2013?
PS - I am SO behind on reading blogs at the moment. Please forgive me. I am slowly catching up! I probably won't have time to leave a comment in all of them but I will read them all. I always do...especially when I'm at work! ;)
Having a goal definitely helps stay focused. Have you thought about signing up for some sort of event, like a run in April or May?
ReplyDeleteWe had talked about gym classes before - have you given that a try? I do find that the classes help me stay motivated because of the group enthusiasm plus there's someone leading the class and pushing you forward. Are you planning on joining another gym?
Keep up the great work on your steps challenge :)
Ankle and/or wrist weights are great for increasing the work of walking. Start working up, one pound at time.
ReplyDelete2013 is shaping up to be a busy year for me. Random goals for the year: be promoted to lead business analyst, finish my MBA, get through the whole series of Jillian Michaels Body Revolution, get back into yoga (goal yoga pose: crow. http://yogaanywhere.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Crow-Pose-Kak-Asana-Full.jpg)
ReplyDeleteI'm sure more goals will come up but those are a good start for me I think!
OH - and obviously a goal is to wear my fitbit more and try to get more steps in!

DeleteWell holy cow, you are stepping a lot! 15 million is insane, and so are you? :D
ReplyDeleteWell, I can't seem to keep myself motivated, so, unfortunately, I don't have any advice, BUT I know you will find a way to get that motivation back and you'll do great!
ReplyDeleteOver 11 million steps is so amazing!! I can't wait to see you reach 15 million!
Happy Holidays, Tim!
I can't believe you're still going strong, either - I'd have figured you'd be done by now ;)
ReplyDeleteSeriously, I completely understand how hard it is to get back on track. I go through these, myself. You eventually will, Tim. Like you said, you did it before, and you will do it again!
You've done really well Tim. Over 11 million steps is great! I won't be surprised if you reach 15 million by April ;-).
ReplyDelete11 million steps! Whoa buddy that is awesome.
